Netflix star, Barton Cowperthwaite, known for his role as Oren Lennox in the hit show, Tiny Pretty Things, has been diagnosed with brain cancer.
The 31-year-old has been diagnosed with “at least” stage 2 glioma, and told his fans via Instagram that he’d be going into brain surgery at the “middle or end of next week.” The star said he’d been suffering multiple seizures over the last eight weeks, the most recent one, landing him in ER.

Barton Cowperthwaite diagnosed with stage 2 brain cancer
The Netflix star took to his 181k Instagram followers this weekend to share details on his health, and cancer diagnosis.
Sharing a picture of himself in a hospital gown, smiling with a peace sign, he penned:
“So…. Yesterday I was diagnosed with at least a stage 2 Glioma. It is a fairly decent sized brain tumor. The tumor’s cells originate in the brain, so it’s not spread from a cancer anywhere else in the body.”
Explaining the treatment options, Barton wrote: “The only course of treatment for something like this is brain surgery. Docs so far have been confident that they’ll be able to remove most of the tumor, and that after a successful operation, and some rehab, I will be operating like my (amazing, talented, brilliant, hilarious) self. That being said it seems like scans and check ups will be apart of my life for its lengthy remainder.”
“My family and I are taking several days to get second opinions. Planning to go into surgery middle or end of next week. I’ll do my best to be open about the journey on here. I am planning on fully bouncing back to be better than my former glory! Please feel free to reach out and I’ll do my best to stay connected with as many people as I can.
“All my love,” he concluded.
Cowperthwaite then went on to post a further two reels, one to thank fans for the support, and another to raise money for his GoFundMe page.
“If you have any motivation to help out or contribute it is enormously and infinitely appreciated by my family and by myself,” he said.
The GoFundMe bio states: “I was on the fence about starting a fundraiser because I consider myself to be someone who lives in extremely blessed and fortunate circumstances. I still do. But the financial requirements of this situation are very large and my family and I could use all the help we can get. I have been absolutely SHOOK by the outpouring of love and support and want people to know that this will be the best way to contribute while we get everything figured out.
Anything we’re able to raise will go towards: medical expenses not covered by insurance, rent, food, family travel, lodging, recovery, PT, rehab, future scans, at home care, unexpected costs, and more.”
At the time of writing, $53,498 of the $75,000 target has been raised.
The star had been suffering ‘multiple seizures’
Explaining how he discovered his tumor to fans, the 31-year-old revealed how he’d been suffering ‘several seizures’ over the past eight weeks.
“The most recent of which landed me in the ER,” he explained.
“They were able to perform a CAT scan where they suffered an abnormality, and from that point they sent me to a different facility to get further imaging done, and the MRI showed a lemon sized Glioma in my frontal lobe,” he said.
