Barbara Rush, best known for her roles in It Comes From Outer Space and Peyton Place has sadly died at 97, her daughter has confirmed.
The Golden Globe winner passed away ‘peacefully’ on Easter Sunday, the movie star’s favorite holiday. The actress had an incredible career spanning seven decades on stage, on TV screens, and on the big screen.

“My wonderful mother passed away peacefully at 5:28 this evening,” Barbara’s daughter and Fox News Channel senior correspondent Claudia Cowan confirmed to Fox News Digital. “I was with her this morning and know she was waiting for me to return home safely to transition.
“It’s fitting she chose to leave on Easter as it was one of her favorite holidays and now, of course, Easter will have a deeper significance for me and my family,” she concluded.
The Hollywood star caught her big break in 1950, after being spotted by a talent scout who signed her to Paramount Pictures while performing at the Pasadena Playhouse.
That same year, she made her debut on the big screen in the film The Goldbergs. Three years later, she had her career breakthrough in the hit film It Came From Outer Space, winning a Golden Globe for her Most Promising Newcomer for her performance.
She starred alongside legends including Paul Newman, in The Young Philadelphians (1959) and Marlon Brando, in The Young Lions (1958). She also starred alongside Frank Sinatra and Richard Burton.
In 1960, just ten years after her ‘big break’ Barbara received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her incredible career, which continued for decades after.

As the devastating news broke, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to pay tribute to Rush, and to celebrate her incredible career.
“R.I.P. Barbara Rush who has left us at 97 years old. She was so lovely. She has left a great filmography with her long career,” penned one.
“I am so, so sorry to learn of Barbara Rush’s passing. She was a lovely person and actor. She so appreciated her fans and told great stories. May she R.I.P,” another wrote.
A third penned: “So sad to learn that Barbara Rush has died at the age of 97. She was something special.”
“Godspeed, Barbara Rush. A wonderful, wonderful talent and lady,” wrote a fourth.
