Robert Ward Lewis

On the evening of Oct. 4, 2023, Robert “Bob” Ward Lewis, 67, passed from this world into glory following a stroke.

Bob hailed from Ellisville, the son of George Cooke and Frances Ward Lewis (both deceased), with older brothers John Frank and George “Cookie” Cooke Jr. (deceased). After graduating from South Jones High School, Bob attended Mississippi State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Architecture degree.

In 1979, Bob married Debra Donelle Fisher of Laurel and during their 44 years together they had and raised three children, Micah Lynn, David Benjamin and Jacob Ryland.

After working briefly for several architectural firms, and forming several partnerships, Bob eventually formed and operated his own architectural firm for the majority of his career. His approach to work was as his approach to life, seeking to use his time, talents and abilities in a way honoring to God. With particular delight, he accepted the charge to design a new worship facility for Pinehaven Presbyterian Church, PCA in Clinton, where he and his family attended and where he served as an Elder on the Session.

The body of Robert Lewis was buried in Lakeland Place Cemetery, where a private graveside service took place, with Mr. James “Bebo” Elkin officiating.

Bob is survived by his wife Debbie; their three children; nine grandchildren; and his brother John. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, but we have every confidence of seeing him again one day and never being parted again.

It was with great comfort that his wife Debbie beheld that with his very last breath, Bob shifted his gaze from her eyes to a vision unseen by others in the room, whereupon he smiled and immediately entered into the presence of the Lord.
