The quest begins “Between the Bricks” on Friday when the Laurel Golden Tornadoes entertain the Quitman Panthers, and if the year is going to start as many Laurel fans are hoping, then the Tornadoes better come out with more fire and more passion than they did a year ago when they were nearly tripped up on the road in Clarke County.
The Panthers took a 13-12 lead into intermission a year ago in a game that was marred by penalties and a combined eight turnovers. Quitman clung to a 21-18 lead to start the fourth quarter, but Laurel scored the game’s final points to edge the home team 25-21.
